"Pride as Self-Dissimulation and Self-Givenness through Humility"

This paper examines interpersonal experience through the lens of pride.  By suggesting basic experiences of the self that are taken up in pride, it describes pride as a moral subjective attitude.  Pride is characterized further as self-dissimulating insofar as it resists the interpersonal basis that it presupposes.  Distinguishing pride from related experiences, this paper gestures toward humility as revelatory of the interpersonal and relational core of the self as “Myself.”
