New Grant: "You and We: Second-person engagement and collective intentionality"
Professor Dan Zahavi's research project "You and We: Second-person engagement and collective intentionality" has been granted 4,374,778 kr from The Danish Council for Independent Research in the category of Culture and Communication.
Project description
The aim of the project is to better understand the relation between interpersonal understanding, collective intentionality, and group-identification. Is a dyadic I-thou relation necessary in order to experience oneself as a member of a group, is it a precondition for being able to act as a group-member? The project will engage with and contribute to the current debate on social cognition, but will also draw on the history of philosophy by considering relevant texts from early phenomenology (1910-1930).
